THEODOLITE TRAVERSING

INTRODUCTION;
The theodolite is an intricate instrument used mainly for accurate measurement of horizontal and vertical angles up to 10 ‘or 20’, depending upon the least count of the instrument. Because of its various uses, the theodolite is sometimes known as a universal instrument. The following are the different purpose for which the theodolite can be used; 1) Measuring the horizontal angles.2) Measuring the vertical angles.3) Measuring deflection angles.4) Measuring magnetic bearings. Theodolite may be of two types, (i) transit theodolite, and (ii) non-transit. In the transit theodolite, the telescope can be revolved through a complete revolution about its horizontal axis in vertical plane. In the none-transit theodolite, the telescope cannot be revolved through a complete revolution in the vertical plane. But it can be revolved to a certain extent in the vertical plane, in order to measure the angle of elevation or depression. Some more details of civil surveyor course in rawalpindi are as under. Theodolite may also be classified as; (i) vernier theodolite – when fitted with a vernier scale, and (ii) micrometer theodolite – when fitted with a micrometer. The size of the theodolite is defined according to the diameter of the main horizontal graduated circle.
DEFENATION;
1) Centering; the setting of a theodolite exactly over a station mark by mean of a plumb-bob is known as centering. The plumb-bob is suspended from a hook fixed below the vertical axis.2) Transiting; the method of turning the telescope about its horizontal axis in a vertical plane through 180 degree is termed as transiting.
